Top 20 Questions to consider when buying a digital camera
My top 20 key questions to consider when buying a digital camera.
1. How many "megapixels' / resolution?
Once and for all, at least for me, you have to get the highest resolution your money can buy at the time of purchase. Period.
2. Who made the lens?
Most cameras will give you an idea of where the lens was just looking at the front of the lens. Whether the lens of his camera came from a reputable company like Leica, Zeiss, Canon, Etc. .. quality of the lens is one of the most important factors you should consider especially if you are using commercial, technical or scientific.
3. Will I need interchangeable lenses? How many are available for my specific camera in mind?
Have the option of interchangeable lenses gives you the freedom to experiment with different focal lengths. Although some P & S (Point & Shoot) DSLR cameras can compete with a generous zoom range for a lens system not interchangeable.
Also note the number of lenses available for use with specific camera for reasons of flexibility. Virtually can cover all of the "zoom" with interchangeable lenses modest compared with ranges of zoom lens systems is not interchangeable or P & S cameras.
4. Do you have a zoom capability? What is the scope?
Almost all the applications I listed above will need some sort of zoom (telephoto) or outside (wide), especially if they have no space to move around the object being photographed.
For images landscape, wide angle shots are very common and sexy at the same time zooming in on the details serves as a rest and complements the wide angle shots.
For weddings and events, you need a zoom, because there are times that are limited by space photography and you will have a difficult time around. It's a good thing for know that you can do all kinds of frame without even leaving their position.
A good zoom will give you the efficiency and versatility in photography, so my suggestion is going for the widest range you can get (usually from 7X to 10X for a point and shoot).
Also note the speed of zoom in or out, which will a factor if you're shooting events such as weddings. You will capture the "decisive moment" in a mediocre zoom speed.
5. Does the provision to capture raw footage?
Many photographers say you need this digital camera function, if you want to have large prints of his photographs. While this is correct, the main reason why we want this is because the benefit will … pure total control of your images … exposure, color, metadata, hdr and more.
6. Can I attach an external flash?
A capacity external flash will give you the power and creative freedom light their songs any way you like.
You can connect your digital camera for all types of lighting fixtures, thus giving you more options and versatility. This comes in the form of a shoe or a PC-Sync socket.
If your digital camera has this feature, there is still hope because accessories called slaves flash is being sold by other companies in different flavors that also does the same job more or less.
7. Do you have a tripod?
Some of the most beautiful landscape pictures I've seen, no doubt, are made with a tripod, so this is a must have if you are planning to do this kind of photography.
The provision "takes light" at a wedding, still life and product photography, studio and art shots … we all need a tripod for its successful implementation … so guess what happens if you do not have a tripod socket? … You can not effectively use a tripod!
8. Do you have automatic and manual focus?
He will not be obvious at first why you'll need this especially if you are just starting in photography. But if you're like me … A total control freak when it comes to cameras … and you really want to express their creative sides, this is definitely a must have.
9. Filters can be connected to it? and what size filter?
Creative expression through the special effects is just one of many reasons makes fun of photography and interesting, and experiment with filters is a creative pursuit has to deal with his picture, especially if you are a beginner.
Remember Always ask if the particular digital camera you are looking for filters CAN handle and ask for the filter size. (To save the filter right to buy with the wrong filter size) Note that most digital SLR should be able to handle the filters, the majority of accompanying lenses have a diameter filter built into the lens.
The majority of P & S (point and shoot) digital cameras usually do not have a filter thread and can be incorporated special accessories need to achieve this and should be checked for safety.
Again, there are many third-party accessories that you could buy to adapt filters to your P & S digital cameras do not have this provision. I'll discuss all of this in a future post so watch for him. (Or subscribe to my ad (powered by e-mail) to know when is up.
10. "I can update the firmware?
The good news for some manufacturers digital cameras is that they keep on improving their digital cameras, even after he sold it to you … this comes in the form of a firmware update.
Usually, this means an improvement on one or many features of a camera. Make sure the camera you're planning to buy digital is an easy way to update your firmware. This comes in the form of a simple transfer through the manufacturer's website (to find and favorite right now) or a CD-ROM FREE.
Another warning – be sure to consider whether a reduction is also possible or available in your digital camera … Why is there a need for a reduction in you ask? … Because, you may want to reinstall a previous firmware … if not as the result of a firmware update.
Occasionally is a feature that was removed by the update that failed to read about and decided that you want to keep that function instead of a bunch of updates significant bit of the new firmware. (Yes, I personally experienced this.)
11. Are there extra benefits or software that came with it?
Some people ignore the fact that you can save money just by doing simple arithmetic. Did you know you could get your digital camera for a long less if you study prices and offers on the market?
If you buy a digital camera and comes with software that can really use … photoshop, elements or any other image editing software of others to the case, then you've saved a little money that would otherwise happen. Some dealers will throw a lot extras … If you simply ask.
Always try to ask for these things you end up buying anyway if it does not – as camera bags, extra lenses, extra batteries, memory card, tripod, lens cleaners, etc. Trust me … just bought these things if they do not ask that treatment. What you got to lose? Just ASK. Would you believe that actually got one of my purchase cost of the camera as much as 30%? Ask away.
12. Is there Local Support in your area?
Find the answer to it will give a great benefit in the long term. Do not you sleep better at night because he feels that the extra security – in case there is something wrong with your digital camera, you can put in for repair at a moments notice?
Not knowing when the camera will be repaired (or if he even repair of a distance) one of the worst feelings a photographer can have especially if you in the middle of a photo shoot or project.
13. What kind of guarantee do you have? World / Countrywide?
If you travel a lot its good to know that a country or even better – a guarantee from around the world can get your camera fixed where you are. Always carry the warranty card and paste into your camera bag.
14. Does the ability to take video and audio?
I know, most DSLRs do not have this feature. However, some objectives Interchangeable digital SLR not have it. This is a very useful feature if you're in a project or a photo shoot and wants to save a document or process a moment or an idea that would otherwise have trouble remembering or writing. It is always a good idea to bring a backup P & S camera that has this function.
The things you could do with audio and video clips in a photo shoot only limited by your imagination … interviews, documentation, funny jokes, training procedures, bloopers, etc.
15. Do you have a manual white balance?
The white balance is one of the most interesting digital cameras. It's fun and fascinating to work. Having this option makes the fun of photography-o-meter up. In future posts, I to be talking about white balance in detail so be sure to keep up.
16. How sensitive is infrared?
If you are considering taking infrared images or enter the exciting world of fine art infrared photography then you will want to know if your digital camera can.
TIP: There is a simple way to test the sensitivity of your digital camera is an infrared device, using a common – A remote control TV. For P & S, which can point the remote at the lens and measure the brightness of the LED is away. This should give you an idea of the sensitivity of your digital camera to the infrared. For DSLR will have to take pictures of the LED and experiment a little or you can research or just google the particular camera model you have in mind for the experiences and thoughts of others about it.
17. How high is the ISO? Is it controlled manually?
ISO is a term referring to the film sensitivity to light. In the digital camera world, refers to the sensitivity of the electronic sensor on digital camera ISO used for film.
The higher the ISO sensitivity of the faster or better camera that can record a specific amount of light.
High ISO is useful for taking better pictures in low light … like the inside of a church or at night. The higher the ISO value, more details can be captured in a dark scene.
One caution – note the amount of noise has a particular camera at high ISO. Some people like it and others not. Again, do not be afraid to ask or do research on the acoustic characteristics of your camera model in mind to see if this is the right choice for you.
18. How high or low you can set the Shutterspeed? What are the settings for minimum and maximum aperture?
Shutterspeed and Opening the settings are the basic mechanisms that lead to the camera and controls amount of light exposes the film or image sensor.
Use shutterspeeds high-action shots and to avoid camera shake, and you use shutterspeeds low for motion effects and the bulb or long exposures. You can find these figures web sites that I gave in Part 1. You can see the technical specifications for a particular camera.
A bulb or "T" function is a good feature to have because you can take exposures for periods of time almost too long. Another characteristic to have is if your camera has a remote control to use this bulb or "T" mode. This gives you the ability to take pictures without holding the camera and adding to the movement of the camera. "
With the theme of the windows, a small (small aperture opening) allows you to have a wider depth of field of your shots are sharp from near to far in comparison with a large aperture (large aperture opening), where his pictures have a depth of field and are "selectively" Centered.
19. Do you have some form of image stabilization?
The new cameras coming out now often have this feature. In short, image stabilization is a form of a mechanism built into the lens of the camera body (depending on the manufacturer and their application), which basically prevents you from getting blurred images when shooting in low light or using a long or telephoto lens. Having this feature can mean the difference between a blurred picture (aka no picture!) A usable one.
20. How close can concentrate? Macro skills?
The closer the camera can focus … the larger the image of an object that can take in relation to the size of the image of the final photo … and the larger image the object … The more details you can get. If you want to take pictures of small objects like flowers and small details, this is a must-have.
That's it. Whew.
Do you really have to go to all these questions? … Of course not, but even if you only study and reflect on half of them … and taking the time … I promise you one thing will surely happen …
You …
much smarter!
when began to ask these questions … ergo you are in a better position to decide which digital camera to buy … Because you are now armed with one tool can be more powerful
the power of information!
In any case, I hope you find the best value in these issues because many of my friends have and be able to get the camera of your dreams.
Enjoy!
