Recommendations for a small SLR and lens?
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on this. I'm looking for a small, easy to carry, 35-mm SLR that is out of my way when I'm not using. Will be worn with a belt or thrown in a backpack. Do not care about the electronics and with all automatic. I can focus manually without any problems. A reliable meters is important to me, and I throw some slides regularly. The same So, I'd definitely consider a decent rangefinder, but I have all the money in the world (ie, not Leica). Brand is not a major concern. I am seeking a relatively small number of principal normal to go with it. I paid extra for the glass with good contrast and color. If there is any recommendation of small wide-angle profile or portrait lens, it would be appreciated as well. The objective here is to have a decent film with a small form factor that I can take with me everywhere do not have my RB67.
The Pentax M series (425 to 480 g for the body) were considered as the smallest cameras in its time. If you associate with a target 50mm f / 2, you have a fairly light mix. Add a prime number of 135 mm or 200 mm zoom.for Pictures-70, etc. The Pentax K1000 will be heavier than 620 g the body, but still a good choice. The M-series were smaller than the Canon A-1 or AE-1 Program, which is probably the selection of the lightest models the Canon FD mount early generation. Usually comes with lens af/1.8. Earlier versions of this objective can be a little heavy, but the new f / 1.8 is an option reasonable for a lightweight team. All T Series T90 Canon so under 600gm, the T60 comes in 365gm with batteries as the Canon Museum site. It is of the same dimensions as the Super ME, so it would defeat the Pentax bodies if you could find one in good condition. Canon has a very good 70-200mm or 135 mm zoom cousins. Nikon FG is a nice, lightweight body. MS is similar, but it is a national auto exposure only, and I personally would avoid. Nikon made a lens 50mm f / 2, but I did not get to see them all that often in online auctions. I FM2n regular and a 35-135mm f/3.5-4.5 zoom. It's a good combination for the day a backpack. I have also used a Tamron 28-200mm on this camera with some success on longer trips. It's a little bigger than I would like for local walks, but covers only a lot more. Agencies such as basic Ricoh KR-5 Super II or newer, use KR5sv a variation of the Pentax K mount. Pentax lenses fit the Ricoh, but there are some problems with the Ricoh lenses on Pentax bodies. In rangefinders, my favorite is the Canonet GIII 17. Certainly not a Leica, but with a lens 40mm f/1.7 is a great little camera. I have a couple of Ricoh 500 series, but they are hard to find in good condition. DougF
