Is it worth it to have an extended warranty when buying a digital camera?
I just bought a Sony DSC-P200 and got the one year warranty extended in April for $ 60. I have 14 days to decide if I want to "return" the warranty. Should I keep it or get rid of it?
No bother. You must return the warranty. Four years is not at all a long time, and Sony makes good products. Unless you have an accident, or are prone to stupid actions, you do not need a guarantee of four years. Ten years might be a different story, but any damage that occurs within four years is probably scarce, and repairs will probably be less than $ 60. What's more, securities tend to be very restrictive. Basically means no hacks, so not play with the camera (and what's so funny?) without voiding the warranty. I'm not saying you should get rid of the security and fool the camera. That I'm just saying that maybe you should stay with the manufacturer's warranty, as it should cover pretty well.
