Making The Case of violence as a survival tool final

Since the events of 9 / 11 we have been bombarded with scenes of violence. Terrorist attacks wars back-to-back "and the current war on terror have given the news channels 24 hours with an unlimited number of images to fill their screens. new warnings and color-coded alert levels only increase the atmosphere of fear.Just when we thought we'd seen it all, things reached a saturation point with video images of innocent contractors beheaded by hooded criminals in Iraq.

As someone who's work life is to teach people to use correctly violence as a survival tool, it really saddens me to see the answers based on many people fear this relentless assault on our senses. No need for this to happen to you! If you are going to study this taboo subject with me a bit, I think you will realize that they are not as powerless as you might think in terms of violence. More importantly, actively learn how violence can be regarded as living a quiet and peaceful, no longer held hostage to the emotional shock of fear random media barrage loves you.

Violence – A different view

In our culture, violence is seen as evil and those who advocate its use in any way are somehow as a "criminal." Unfortunately, this stigma has worked very well for one group in our society – the predators. Look at it this way: if someone grabbed a butcher knife from his kitchen drawer, then went out and stabbed The first person he saw in the neck (killing in the process), I think everyone would agree it was a horrible crime and should be punished to the full extent of the law.

But what about the situation in which an attacker, wielding a gun, breaks into your house and are able to intercept them in their attempt to raise stairs (where her husband and family are sleeping). Everyone understands their willingness to fight in this case. And if, during the fight, which took his butcher knife and stabbed the thief on the side of the neck (again, killing him) before he could use his weapon against you or your family, then most of all, and society in general, I applaud his courage and determination to protect their loved ones.

Here's the thing: all form judgments about the 2 armed acts with knives have just described – on the basis of the facts surrounding. The first was a murder without provocation, and the second a justified act of self defense. But now I would like to change their approach, to see acts through a completely different lens. I do not act as judge, rather only to see them objectively. When a step back and see them so you can find something else – both were a success! The violence used (butcher knife to one side of the neck) worked perfectly in every case. The murderer in the first stage was the "successful" as the guard in the second.

A classic mistake

Here's the point: if you change your perspective and view violence as just a tool – which is neither good or bad – it can be evaluated separately from the facts surrounding. Why do this? Because it is the first crucial step in eliminating unnecessary fear of your life!

People often confuse "using a tool with the tool itself. Take violence, for example. The fact that we see someone who uses violence on another human being does not mean we have to fear that he or she. Anyone is able to use this "tool." All it takes is one thing: the intention. That's it.

Sure, the company has fought hard to deal with the existence of violence with many people today simply choose to ignore it completely (a mistake). While we all agree that violence is rarely the answer in any situation, here's the challenge I have in mind …

When violence is the answer … It is not the only answer!

I realize this is inconvenient for many, possibly even you. Everyone has no problem in discussing a wide range of inappropriate uses of violence, including beheadings above. It's easy condemn such brutal acts, not necessary. However, to rule out violence as a viable tool to accept without question that has no valid place in your life, always exposed to the risk of being on the receiving end of violence in a real confrontation, life or death.

Here are the facts. Besides the people, I speak and train many business groups around the world. The theme of many of these talks and seminars is the use and understanding of violence as the ultimate survival tool. Share with these CEOs and other successful professionals that my typical client base consists of a '70 / 30 'ratio, ie 70% of my clients are looking asocial only after violence has entered their lives!

And those who suffer real violence all tell the same story. "I live in a great neighborhood, a gated community My friends and I have never been in fights or even exposed to violence whatsoever. Etc, etc, etc. .. Then come to the 'but', 'There is when I say how the unthinkable happened: asocial violence happened to them – and they were not prepared.

Not only are prepared for violence, Most refused to acknowledge its existence. The results are often devastating and often non-repairable. It is very difficult to help someone overcome asocial violence. Scars are too deep psychological.

It's much better when the people are training before that experience. Then they are educated about violence and know how use it as a survival tool. More importantly, this knowledge allows them to make better choices in their daily lives life to minimize exposure avoidable unnecessary violence.

The price of being unprepared

Let me give you an example. A man finally attended a live training after of corresponding with me for over 3 years. It was a great success, someone who sought but never found the time to attend self defense training. For Finally, it had in While there was no indication of a problem, it was an incredible disappointment! I mean, here was in its first 40 years in incredible physical shape still shows little enthusiasm for training even though he is excited to attend more than 3 years. Since I was just passing by the motions to noon on the second day, I had decided to give a refund and asked to return when he could put more effort into training.

While this training deals with the use of violence in a situation of life or death, is, by design, a lot of fun with immense energy and people who do not put effort in training need to be removed to protect the learning dynamics for the rest of the class. As I went to my office the lunch break, I was surprised by a phone call. She was the wife of the man! As I listened, she timidly asked how he was. I informed of the situation and my decision to return to its registration. She asked me to reconsider and then explains this horrible story.

Apparently, had been victims of home invasion six months before training. It was not your typical man invasion.Four home with ski masks with automatic weapons appeared in his bedroom a night. As man got out of bed froze, realizing he had no idea what to do about that group (that is why and train always takes multiple attackers). It was quickly brushed bullet stop an attacker, then hog-tied expert with tape on the other.

With blood streaming down his face was forced to watch (with her hair violently backward to make sure that I could not look away) as another attacker raped his wife. The assailants spoke only Spanish during the assault all seemed really upset that the couple does not understand. Since the couple was gagged was not able to explain that not speak Spanish. It was over in an instant. Later, the police were baffled, because this couple had no known enemies. Even more strange: did not take the house! The husband was a successful businessman who had just sold his company hundreds of millions of dollars. Throughout his career he never had a legal problem of any kind – not even a parking ticket. The house was a new house in an upscale neighborhood.

Three weeks passed before police discovered the truth: that the attackers had reached the wrong house a drug dealer lived three houses down!. South America squad of thugs who had been Sent to send a "message" in a dispute with a seller of his rival, had fucked. Now I do not care. This client is blamed for the freezing in the face of asocial violence, and not his wife in the process. The shame and guilt will corrode.

How To guarantee minimizing violence in their lives

So I ask, 'How could any training would have helped in this situation? If it was not just martial arts a typical self-defense course. The results would probably be the same. Only by learning to use violence as a tool of survival that have been better prepared asocial violence to keep going in life, and to deal with when it did.

The self-defense approach advocated in this Article means learning using a method, based on principles of training hand to hand combat designed exclusively for use in situations where you must fight for his life during an attack inevitable violent asocial (not responding to violence ends maimed, crippled or dead.) Everything in this approach to defense that is preparing for a worst case scenario. However, the real benefit is to realize you do not want to get to that point! People trained in this way have extraordinary measures to hinder entering asocial violence in your life. They understand the violence is a fact of life and if they allow predators the opportunity to see them as easy targets, they become just that.

The failure of positive thinking

Back to my story, this couple had moved to its new home early. WAN security system is not activated. They wanted a dog (the number one deterrent to attacks at home), but had not had time to get one. And worst of all, it had closed the front and back doors, thinking wrong they were safe in a gated community with police hire.

That night proved fatal otherwise. They may have gone to these serious errors personal safety was asocial violence did not happen randomly. Not in a million years that this couple has felt that it would be mistaken for a rival drug dealer in a dispute over money. However, I have heard this story all day, because most of us continue to see violence as "Criminal" – instead of a tool that can save our life in a violent confrontation.

Get training can ensure that never happens again, but never going to remove the violation or physical trauma, or you can undo the psychological damage was done. It is therefore actively seeking other "30 percent!

What can you do now? Start by changing your point of view of violence. See it for what it is – neither good nor bad. So a tool, if you ever need, always there to serve you in a worst case situation.
