What is a good digital camera with a good lens (maybe leica) for about $ 100?
I have always been and always will film camera (Leica) photographer, but I want a decent cheap digital camera for non-art. Lumix cameras are the Leica lens good? Are they comparable in some way to film Leica lenses? What are some good cameras in the range of 100-150? Is there anywhere I can go to see examples of images taken different cameras on the web? thanks
If you're used to the Leica film cameras, then you'll be very disappointed with any digital camera cheap. They do not come anywhere near the quality of a Leica 35mm camera (or any film camera of good quality, for that matter). You would be a big step backwards. Cheap digital cameras (point and shoot digital cameras) are on par with the quality of which 110 were like film cameras. You can get a decent digital camera for photos of about $ 100, but certainly nothing to compare with what can be obtained from a Leica … or good quality manual film camera any other. I know I will get the thumbs turned down for saying this. That's good. It's true. Simply I can not believe that it would move from a Leica to a point and shoot digital camera. I mean, why do not you? I use almost all the film for all my photos (35 mm and 120 roll film size) and I love it. I have an 8 megapixel camera, but I just use it mainly for photos when I'm out with my friends. I did not even think of trying to replace one of my 35 mm SLR or rangefinder camera with her. That would be a step backwards. And definitely forget about trying to replace a medium format camera with a film P & S digital camera … in any way. If you want a lightweight small digital camera for casual pictures of friends and family, then it can a decent digital camera for about $ 150. If you want a zoom lens, then be sure to get some optical zoom, not digital zoom. But again, no expect to replace a Leica camera. It's good for convenience, and you can take decent photos with a digital camera … but definitely not considered a replacement for good quality film camera manual.
