Digital camera – What is a decent shutter speed?
I just bought a digital camera Pentax Optio E10 (http://tinyurl.com/smn8j) and I think when I go to click the shutter release button to take the snapshot, there is a tremendous 2-3 seconds of delay. If i dont stand up as a rock for the entire time the image is blurred. Very irritating. From my quick reading the problem seems to be related to the shutter speed. In accordance to the sites of the camera is 1 / 1000 to 2 seconds. Im suppose to hit the worst. How exactly does one get the 1 / 1000 speed? I've tried pressing the shutter release button halfway to set focus and then fully press when ready, but I still experience a delay of 2 seconds or so. My images are shot in standard mode, at the gates with lots of light, without flash, and 640×480 image (JPG). Can anyone recommend a way to avoid this delay?
He has been doing exactly the right thing in trying to minimize shutter lag. But unfortunately, there is little you can do about this delay, because the problem is with the mechanics of the camera slowly. It's just an entry level camera, so performance suffers very slow. Using a faster shutter speed does not really help with the GAL (also can not adjust the shutter speed and the camera is fully automatic). BUT using the scene mode SPORT apply a faster shutter speed … which is good for children or moving objects, etc. Here an excerpt from a review site with regard to shutter lag … "Shutter and recycled As is typical of many digital cameras on the lower end terms of price of the Optio E10 Shutter suffers pretty bad lag. I had the opportunity to take a single picture in 1.83 seconds. This is a very slow time. To take five photos taken 15.25 seconds "I, even I know better than the cameras have a lag of only one second per shot 1/10-3/10th … so that should be extremely Optio E10 frustrating. Check out this link that shows the time delay of several cameras … and see that Pentax, Olympus and Nikon are slow compared to others. For get an excellent photo quality and fast performance, I recommend Canon or Sony and much better camera (which will cost a little more … but with the cameras digital get what you pay). If you are very unhappy with your new camera, then I suggest you go back and try to buy a better model, because the problem will not disappear. To adjust the shutter speed and aperture, then you need to look at a camera with "openness and Shutter Priority" modes.
