Nikon D40 or Canon Rebel XT 350 OES??
So I want to buy a digital SLR camera, and I did some research and now I'm trapped, basically, between the two cameras … I am a filmmaker and I travel, the camera is used mainly in the fields. I have a decent knowledge of photography and equipment, and I have a budget of about ~ $ 800 (I figured if I spend 600 on the camera, I will be able to get a telephoto lens for another 200). Anyway, I read a series of reviews and comparisons online, but just wanted to post this to see what other people were thinking of previous models. I played around with two cameras and the truth that the Nikon feels more "solid", but looking at all the specifications I think I'm leaning more towards the canon. So yes, any advice would be appreciated. thanks mate
I'd vote for the D40X. If you are a filmmaker, you will appreciate the fact that the D40X has a meters of actual terrain and the XT (and XTi) do not. The best thing you can give is 10% partial central area "metro. Bookmark this page. I added the D40, because There is no opinion for the D40X on this site yet, but is very similar to the D40. I added the XTi just because many people new to this camera include comparisons. I made a comparison of D40X and Rebel XTi, which I'll post here. It would be valid for you to read this, since the XTi is the new "best" of the camera, so one might expect compared to other camera more favorable than the XT. ~~~~~~~~ Nikon D40x vs Canon Rebel XTi The D40X is so new that I see no decent image shows yet. Can we assume (hope) that gives results similar to the D80? It appears so. View: http://www.popphoto.com/cameras/3896/camera-test-nikon-d40x.html a favorable review that even compares it with the XTi just a little. I still like the idea that the Nikon has a location indicator and it seems strange that Canon does not. The Nikon is a bit limited in autofocus capabilities and speed compared to the Canon, however. Here are some pertinent quotes about the D40X: "Noise suppression was generally better than the D80 is much better than Rebel is. As ISOs increased, the D40x's resolution superior to that of the rebels. "" The MES model D40x does not show the image quality, either. At ISO 100, the D40x turned in an average resolution 2075 lines, slightly behind the Nikon D80 and Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi. "Continue on down on page 2 for direct comparison with the XTi. I'll let you read it for yourself, since it seems to lean slightly towards the Canon and kill me write that. I'll leave that job for Koko. But seriously, these cameras are very close in performance and value. It is true that there is a "problem" with older Nikon lenses not autofocusing in the D40, but if you do not have a bag full of larger goals, it will not be a problem. You need to go to a real camera store and pick up both cameras and see how they feel where appropriate. Some people will love the Canon and some will love the Nikon. Find out what you are. You will be happy with either one, but you will be happy with that best fits your hands.
