It is a Nikon D40 digital SLR camera good?
Does anyone have something to say about this camera. I want to buy for my girlfriend for Christmas because Consumer Reports said was the best buy, but I know nothing about cameras.
Depends on the experience of his GF. If she is a photographer and / or has a lot lenses in the closet, the D40 would not be the best option. If you have old lenses, then you should investigate getting a camera body that fits the objectives. Glass is expensive! If she is an accomplished photographer, who might be better off with an advanced camera body a bit more. If you like taking pictures for fun / pleasure, then the D40 is a great option. I really like mine. If no image is printed larger than 8×10, the 6Mpixel D40 is perfectly fine. It Otherwise, consider the D40X. My only complaint about the D40 is the exposure tends to turn out the lights. This is easily corrected if you shoot in program mode and provide EV correction of -2 / 3 or -1 / 3.
