best digital camera forums
Looking for the best photography forums (high signal / noise ratio)?

I am an active member of www.fredmiranda.com (especially in the sports forum) and am looking to supplement my networking, interactions, and learning forums with other similar photographs, which have a high signal to noise ratio (lint recently, very few flame wars, etc..) The site should have a decent amount of traffic professionals, semi-professionals and amateurs. I'm not looking as forums dpreview.com discussion, full of people who just bought his first digital camera. Other forums that I found (openphotographyforum, photocamel, etc) seem to have very little traffic in the areas I'm interested in participating, especially in sports, portrait, nature / wildlife, post-processing, lighting and the "business side" photography. A / Sell Buy area is nice, but not required. Basically, I'm looking to see if there is another site out there as useful and beneficial as fm.com. Free sites are nice, but a moderate rate (less than $ 100) for an active forum, useful also acceptable.

First, I agree that Fred Miranda forums are pretty decent. I also agree that dpreview. although sometimes useful, it has a lot of nonsense. Sometimes is all I can do to take a look at the "Pro" in the forum, as it has been infested with people who think that license images for any use provided for $ 1 through companies microstock is a good idea and makes one "pro". Dpreview The trick is to learn what people always make sense and look for their posts and not waste too much time reading through lengthy discussions, useless. What dpreview has that makes it very useful, however, is a very complete team comments. I recommend SportsShooter from sports photography is one of their interests and also because the issues are by no means limited to just sports photography. SportsShooter is full of people with talented, helpful and just looking through the archive of messages reveal a wealth of information. The portfolios of the members are also a source of inspiration, there are plenty of good articles, and there is a classifieds section. Becoming a member requires a sample portfolio and a sponsor of a member of high range, but well worth it. Anyone can read but requires publication SportsShooter members. It's only $ 25/year but easily pay for itself. Photo.net is another worth checking out. It has a large number of sub-forums on a variety of topics and, in general, the signal to noise ratio is very high. There are also an area where you can post a portfolio, ask for comments, a section of classified ads, news and commentary. I also like the magazine PDN forums. (And, as As an aside, PDN is a large print magazine, too.) Lightstalkers is also well worth a look – which is densely populated by photographers and my membership I have made some contacts for assignments of photo editors:. And even if the forums – despite having associated Flickr groups – there are definitely two links I recommend Strobist, which is a great resource for lighting, and John Harrington's Photo Business News and Forum blog. I hope it's useful. This will keep you busy!
